Bandh by SS in Kolhapur, Sangli district on Monday

Kolhapur, Nov 11 (UNI) The Shetakari Sanghtana(SS) has decided to observe a bandh on Monday in Kolhapur and Sangli districts in protest against Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh's reported statement against the SS led cane grower farmers agitation.

A decision to this effect was taken at the SS representatives meeting held here last evening which was presided over by SS state President Raghunathdada Patil, Kolhapur district SS President P G Patil informed today.

Mr Deshmukh is scheduled to visit Sangli and Kolhapur on Monday, therefore the SS meeting also resolved to stage a rasta roko agitation on the Bangalore national highway near village Kinee on the same day besides the bandh in support of farmers on going agitation demanding better price to their cane, Mr Patil said.

Speaking at the meeting, Raghunathdada Patil said that the SS demanded Rs 1800 per tonne for cane to the farmers and threatened to continue the agitation till their demand was met.

Mr Deshmukh in a recently held function in Pune district has sharply criticised the SS and it's agitation.
