Vietnam delegation calls on P R Kyndiah

New Delhi, Nov 10 (UNI) A five-member delegation of Vietnam's Committee for Ethnic Minorities led by vice Minister and Standing vice Chairman Son Song Son today called on Tribal Affairs Minister P R Kyndiah to discuss issues related with ethnic minorities and tribals.

Mr Kyndiah apprised the visiting delegation of various policies and programmes of Union Government for the welfare of tribals and other ethnic minorities. India could share its experience in the area of tribal development and it would like to take advantage, research and studies being carried out by Vietnam in this area.

The Vietnami delegation, on a week-long tour to India, showed keen interest in the various programmes of tribal welfare and rural development schemes being implemented by the government.

The delegation would be visiting Bihar and Himachal Pradesh also.

The visit is primarily aimed at studying, researching, conducting, survey, exchanging experience in training personnel dealing with ethnic minority issues, managing and utilising ethnic officers, learning administrative structure of the agency in charge of ethnic issues, state policy for socio-economic development in ethnic areas, rural mountainous areas and policy toward tribes, ethnic minorities, ethnic officers and officers dealing with ethnic affairs.
