There is hope for future: APJ Kalam
New Delhi, Nov 10 (UNI) President APJ Abdul Kalam today said the services provided by DLSA (Delhi Legal Services Authority) held out a hope for the future.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion of the DLSA turning 25 years, the President heaped fulsome praise on the DLSA in providing the legal serives to the needy more so because the societal contribution to removing atrophy was a step towards 'psychological revolution' through movement of inquiry into knowledge, into oneself, into possibility of something beyond knowledge.
Dr Kalam exhorted the DLSA to start practice of Jeevan Vidya begun by a group of IIT professors. The team brought a fundamental change in the attitude of the Bilaspur jail inmates in 3 weeks.
The occasion afforded the president another opportunity to share his experiences of visit in Deendayal Research Institute in Chitrakoot.
''The institute is facilitating a cohesive conflict free society.
The eighty villages around Chitrakoot are almost litigation free.
The villagers have decided themselves thta no dispute would find way to court. The differences will be amicably sorted out in the village.
This movement needs encouragement by the state governments and the memebrs of Legal services authority," he said.
Walking down the memory lane, he stressed resolution of litigation through human touch, a technique of persuasion internalised by panchayats but lost since 1970s to the courts.
Chief Justice of India YK Sabharwal regretted that "We, the people of India" (the salutory guideline begining the preamble of the constitution) continued to live in sheer ignorance and far removed from the reality.
"And it is they the DLSA is meant for. The God will look after the nation if you look after them. The agents of the change, beyond legal fraternity, will all have to reach out to the farthest corner of the country," Sabharwal said.
The occasion was alos graced by among others Vijendra Jain chief justice of Delhi High court, HR Bhardwaz, Union Minister of law and justice, KG Balaksrishnan, Supreme court judge, MK Sharma Delhi High court judge.
