Stray incidents of violence during Nagpur bandh
Nagpur, Nov. 10 (UNI) Stray incidents of stone pelting and burning of tyres marked the one-day bandh called by Dalit organisations here today, as police used mild force to disperse mobs.
The bandh organised by ''Khairlanji Murders Protest Committee'' was to protest the massacre of four members of a Dalit family by villagers in Khairlanji in Bhandara district of Vidarbha region in Maharashtra recently.
Four members Surekha Bhotmage (44), daughter Priyanka (18), and sons Roshan (23) and Sudhir (21) were allegedly killed by a mob in village Khairlanji on the night of September 30 over a land dispute.
The bandh affected the commercial establishments of the city as shops in different localities downed shutters.
Most of the educational institutions in the city remained closed.
However, Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University went ahead with its winter examination schedule.
