Punjab, Maharashtra earn points in rain-hit match

Jamshedpur, Nov 10 (UNI) Punjab and Maharashtra earned two points each agaisnt Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai respectively by virtue of their first innings lead as the third and final days' play washed away today in the Cooch Behar trophy elite group matches here.

Punjab took 220 runs first innings lead over Uttar Pradesh after scoring 418. In reply, Uttar Pradesh were all out for a paltry 198 runs yesterday and after being followed on UP were 21 for no loss in the second innings.

In the other match, Maharashtra were 187 for seven in their first innings in reply to Mumbai's 122 all out yesterday. Maharashtra took vital 65 runs lead to earn two points.

The umpires of both the matches called off the final day's play as the match could not be started due to rains and bad light.
