Over 35 lakh tonne paddy arrives in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Nov 10 (UNI) Over 35.46 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in Haryana mandis so far this season.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said out of the total paddy arrival, 27.53 lakh tonnes was leviable and 10.20 lakh tonnes basmati and other superior quality.

He said over 20.06 lakh tonnes of paddy had been procured by six government agencies and the remaining 15.40 lakh tonnes had been purchased by the private millers and traders.

Hafed had procured 8.86 lakh tonnes of paddy, followed by Food and Supplies Department with 5.96 lakh tonnes, Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation 2.38 lakh tonnes, Confed 1.71 lakh tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation with 1.01 lakh tonnes and Food Corporation of India with 10,819 tonnes.

He said Kurukshetra district was leading with 6.94 lakh tonnes of paddy arrival, followed by Karnal 5.09 lakh tonnes, Fatehabad with 4.78 lakh tonnes, Kaithal 4.49 lakh tonnes and Ambala 3.04 lakh tonnes.

He said the state had also delivered over 2.22 lakh tonnes of rice to the Central Pool so far as against 1.42 lakh tonnes delivered during the corresponding period last year.
