NEC to invest 100 crore on health sector in NE
Aizawl, Nov 10 (UNI) With the aim to enhance health services in the North East states, North Eastern Council (NEC) planned to invest 100 crore on medical and health sector.
NEC officials here today said financial support of around 50 crore would be given to health institutes administered by NEC such as Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal, Regional Institute of Paramedical and Nursing, Mizoram and Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health, Assam.
Out of the total money, more than 25 crore has been released to these health institutes, official souces here said, adding that more than 720 lakh has been earmarked for additional facilities in three medical colleges of Asom including schemes on T B and respiratory centre and construction of paying cabins in these medical colleges.
Support to regional dental college and regional nursing college, government ayurvedic college, Sri Sankaradev Netralaya of Assam and Tripura government medical college would also been given in priority basis.
Regional diabetes centre and regional institute of pharmaceutical science and technology in Tripura would get 100 lakh for its development, while in Manipur, 90 lakh has been alloted seperately for the infrastructure support to nursing school and J N hospital.
In Nagaland, the NEC has allotted 112 lakh for the development of a paramedical institute, Kohima and one time support to referral hospital at Dimapur, the sources added.
