Monica case: Witnesses fail to appear for second day
Bhopal, Nov 10 (UNI) A local court was today unable to record statements in a fake passport case, involving underworld don Abu Salem and his girlfriend Monica Bedi, who is also a starlet, as listed witnesses were absent.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Dinesh Kumar Dangi was informed that Khalil Ullah Khan could not come as it was Friday today, while notice was not served to Masood Ahmed.
Monica was not present in court.
An argument took place on an application submitted by the defence cousel urging that the name 'Fauzia' not be attached to Monica's name. The court fixed November 13 for next hearing of this case.
Of the total 32 witnesses, seven have deposed thus far.
Earlier, statements could not be recorded yesterday, as witness Chhotu was out of station, while another Jahangir was deceased.
On November 28, 2001, a case was registered at the Koh-i-Fiza Police Station against Salem, his wife Samira Jumani and Monica for having fake passports made at the regional passport office using the names Danish Baig, Rubina Baig and Fauzia Osman respectively.
