Law sans justice is a curse: President

New Delhi, Novm 10 (UNI) President APJ Abdul Kalam today said that any law that didn't bestow justice was not a boon but curse.

Addressing the legal fraternity on the occasion of silver jubilee celebration of the Delhi Legal Services Authority, the President dwelt on the thin line between law and justice.

"We often confuse between the two. Laws are only means for dispensation of justice, a means to an end and interpretation of any law that doesn't bestow justice is not a boon but a curse," he said hoping that the judicial system recognised the difference.

He also expressed hope that the democratic polity would evolve means and methods to ensure speedy justice.

"Otherwise we will end up giving wide berth to the not unfounded allegation that slow wheels of justice deny justice," he warned.
