Karunanidhi to launch unemployment assistance schme
Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, Nov10 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will formally launch the 'unemployment assistance scheme' marking the fulfilment of yet another poll promise of the DMK, here tomorrow.
The scheme which was originally scheduled for launch on October two, in concide with the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi was postponed on account of the local bodies elestions.
Officials sources told 'UNI' here that more than 10,000 unemployed youth were set to get orders from the Chief Minister at a glittering function to be held at Anna Stadium.
More than 16,000 applications have been received by the District Authorities in Tiruchirapalli district alone and after scrutiny, the eligible persons have been issued invitation cards or provisional sanction letters.
The ministerial colleages of Karunanidhi will launch the scheme in other districts of the state tomorrow. The government has allocated a sum of Rs 100 crore for the current financial year for the the scheme.
The sources said the assitance will be given on a quarterly basis and as the scheme being an ongoing one, those who did not complete five years of registration with the employment exchanges as of now can apply for the dole, once they complete five years.
