High court directs SP to appear on Nov 16 on MLA issue

Ranchi, Nov 10 (UNI) Jharkhand High Court today directed the Suprintendent of Police, Garwah, to appear before the court on November 16 and explain why did he seek explanation from the Investigating Officers (IOS) when a case of a legilature was sub-judiced.

The case is pending with the High Court in connection with staying of the procedure of arrest warrant of Bhawnathpur MLA Bhanu Pratap Shahi.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Muthuswamy Karpagavinaygam and Justice Permod Kohli passed the order while hearing a writ petition of its own motion.

The court has also directed the IOS to produce the records of Mr Shahi.

The court was told by Rajeev Ranjan, advocate appearing for the IOS, that in the case dairy of Mr Shahi during the supervision by the SP himself had written that sufficient evidence was found against the accused.

The court took serious view of it and observed that the police officer would have to face music.

Today the Inspector General of Police, the IOS and the CID inspector were present in the court. The court directed them to be present on November 16.
