Guwahati High Court orders probe into Naobi molestation case

Imphal, Nov 10 (UNI) The Guwahati High Court has ordered the District and Sessions Judge, Manipur East, to probe the alleged molestation case of Maibam Naobi.

A division bench comprising Justices Rajen Gogoi and M Binoykumar ordered the probe yesterday following a PIL filed by Human Rights Law Network (HRLN), Manipur chapter.

The report has to be submitted within three months.

Naobi was allegedly picked up and molested and confined at the police station by Thoubal police commandos after N Lokhon OC of Police commando was gunned down in February last by cadres of People's Liberation Army (PLA).

She had allegedly attended the funeral of a PLA cadre involved in attacking the police officer.

Earlier, the Manipur government had ordered judicial inquiry by Justice (Retd) S P Rajkhowa and he has already submitted the report to the government.
