Fake stamp paper scam accused gets bail on medical grounds

Pune, Nov 10 (UNI) A MCOCA court here today granted bail to Anil Kumar Shah, an accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam, on medical grounds.

Shah is suffering from cancer. Special court judge Chitra Bhedi granted bail to the accused so that he can avail himself of medical treatment at a private hospital.

Meanwhile, all the arrested accused in the scam appeared before the court through video conferencing. The other accused who are on bail like former Mumbai Police Commissioner Ranjit Sharma, suspended DCP Pradip Sawant, suspended ACP M C Mulani and others also presented themeselves before the court today.

While observing that many of the accused were not represented by lawyers, the court directed the government to look into the matter.

Further hearing into the matter has been fixed for November 18.

Former Samajwadi Party MLA Anil Gote and Telgi's lawyer, in an application, sought permission to argue their case themselves.

Telgi once again complained to the court that he was not receiving proper medical treatment. He is suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure and is also HIV positive.
