Domestic fertiliser production during September at 22.37 LT

New Delhi, Nov 10 (UNI) The estimated production of major fertilisers in the country during September 2006 was 17.13 lakh tonnes of Urea and 5,24 lakh tonnes of DAP as against the target of 15.83 lakh tonnes and 4.40 lakh tonnes respectively.

Cumulative production of Urea and DAP during Kharif 2006 upto September 30 had been 97.61 lakh tonnes and 24.70 lakh tonnes against the target of 98.93 lakh tonnes and 27.26 lakh tonnes respectively.

During the month, approximately 16.15 lakh tonnes of Urea was despatched to the states as against the target of 15.83 lakh tonnes.

Availability of Urea during the month was about 32.56 lakh tonnes.

The position was satisfactory in all the states.

Further, sale of Urea during Kharif 2006 upto September 30 was about 113.65 lakh tonnes which was higher by about 5.55 per cent as compared to the sale of 107.67 lakh tonnes in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Availability of DAP and MOP during the month had been about 24.65 lakh tonnes and 12.89 lakh tonnes respectively, which was adequate to meet the demand of the states.

During the month the country imported 2.48 lakh tonnes of Urea, 3.56 lakh tonnes of DAP and 5.51 lakh tonnes of MOP. In addition, 1.65 lakh tonnes of Urea was also received from OMIFCO plant in Oman. The cumulative import of Urea, DAP and MOP during April-September 2006 had been 18.63 lakh tonnes, 17.83 lakh tonnes and 8.60 lakh tonnes respectively.
