76 injured as Surat-Bhusawal passenger train derails
Mumbai, Nov 10 (UNI) At least 76 passengers were injured, 15 of them grievously, when ten coaches of 113 DN Surat-Bhusawal passenger train derailed near the Kolde station, 110 kms from Surat on the Surat-Nandurbar section of Western Railway early this morning.
Western Railway sources said here this evening that the injured have been admitted to the rural hospital at Navapur. Preliminary reports had earlier put the figure of the injured at 92.
Minister of State for Railway Naranbhai Rathwa has rushed to the accident site to review the relief and restoration work.
Western Railway General Manager V K Kaul and Divisional Railway Manager Satya Prakash, along with a medical team, have rushed to the site of accident to ensure speedy relief and restoration work.
Arrangements have also been made to bring the rest of the passengers to Nandurbar station from where they can proceed on their onward journey.
Allout efforts have been initiated to restore the railway tracks and the authorities are hopeful that the work would be completed by late evening today.
Meanwhile, in view of the accident, Western Railway has diverted nine trains and cancelled six others.
