11 naxals including Maoist leader killed in encounter

Hyderabad, Nov 10 (UNI) Eleven naxals, including CPI (Maoist) State Committee Member and Rayalaseema Comittee Secretary Obuleshu and five women, were killed in two different encounters with the police in Warangal and Kadapa districts near here today.

Police said two naxals belonging to the CPI (ML) 'Pratighatana' Party were killed in an encounter near Polukonda village at Kodakundla mandal in Warangal district.

The naxals, who were hiding in the hilly regions of the area, opened fire at the combing police team.

In retaliation, police opened fire and killed two naxals. Weapons were also seized from the spot.

In another encounter, nine naxals, including five women were killed near Budvel on the borders of Nellore and Kadapa districts, early today.

Police said Rayalaseema Committee Secretary and State Committee Member Obuleshu was killed in the encounter.

One AK 47, three SLR, four 303 rifles and plenty of kit bags were recovered from the spot.

Identity of the other killed naxals were yet to be ascertained, police added.
