Sugarcane growers stage dharna, demand better price for cane
Kolhapur, Nov 9 (UNI) Sugarcane growers staged a day-long ''dharna'' in front of the district collectorate here today, demanding an early resolution to the sugarcane pricing issue.
The farmers were also demanding a withdrawal on the ban of sugar exports.
The agitation was led by Peasants and Workers Party senior leader N D Patil and others.
Meanwhile, the agitation launched by the Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghtana and the Shetkari Sanghatana in Kolhapur and Sangli districts continued today, adversely affecting the sugar factories where the crushing season has already commenced.
