Security strengthened at Rajiv Gandhi airport in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Nov 9 (UNI) Security at the Rajiv Gandhi Airport has been strenghtended following intelligence reports that Al Qaeda terrorists had sneaked into South India and were planning to carry out attacks at airports.
The entire airport complex was thoroughly checked and the luggage of air travellers was frisked.
Passengers boarding and disembarking were being subjected to thorough inspection. The airport authorities sought the help of the local police for strengthening the security arranements as they could not get more men of the Industrial Security Force, who are enthrusted with guarding the airport.
Airport authorities said though Hyderabad was not on the list of targeted airports, they were not taking chances and were trying to provide maxiumum protection to the passengers passing through the Rajiv Gandhi airport.
