Pakistan beats India 2-0 in Lahore leg of tennis Test

Lahore, Nov 9 (UNI) Pakistan avenged their Islamabad leg defeat in style, blanking India 2-0 in the second round of the Indo-Pak tennis test series here.

Top Pakistani Aisam-ul Haq tamed Karan Rastogi 6-1, 6-4, while Aqeel Khan downed Rohan Bopanna 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 to render the doubles match inconsequential.

They now play the Indian legs of the series in Chandigarh and Delhi.

Top Pakistani Aisam made his intention clear right from beginning and conceded just one game in the first set.

Rastogi tried to put up a semblance of fight in the second set but the Pakistani's experience stood him in good stead and the local favourite went on to win the set and the match hardly breaking into a sweat.

Aqeel Khan, who lost to Rastogi in the Islamabad leg, put up a vastly improved show today to take the wind out of Bopanna's sail.

After conceding the first set, Bopanna was at his best in the second and the lanky Indian served and volleyed well to grab it.

Bopanna, however, ran out of gas in the decider and was a huge disappointment as his Pakistani rivals went on to win the match 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
