Limca Book of Records certificate issued to Sportscraft today
Mumbai, Nov 9 (UNI) Sportscraft and its founder Srikant Karani were today included in the Limca Book of Records for organising 250 sports event over a period of 22 years here today.
Four-time world billiard champion Michael Ferreira handed over the Certificate of Listing by Limca Book of Records for this achievement to Karani at a ceremony here today.
Karani and Sportscraft completed it's 250 event when they organised the Gulf Dirt Track Challenge in Raipur on September 17.
Speaking after receiving the certificate, Mr Karani said,''when I started in 1984, visualising 50 events was also out of the question.
Getting people with proper documentation to participate was also a problem. In those wonder years, motor sports was virtually unheard of in India.'' Karani had staged his first event in 1984 and after organising Gymkhana races and vintage car rallies, Sportscraft branched out to more competitive events, becoming the first Indian company to organise autocross, rallies for the two-wheelers, Go-kart races and Dirt Track racing.
Karani and his company Sportscraft were also voted as the 'Best Organiser' of motor sports events by the Federation of Motor Sports Club of India for four years in a row from 1994 to 1997.
