KPS launches l2 kw single phase gas generator set in Chennai

Chennai, Nov 9 (UNI) The US-based Kohler Power Systems (KPS) today launched the 12 KW single phase gas generator set--12RES--in this metropolis.

This Residential and Commercial gas generator, priced at around Rs three lakh and generated good demand in Bangalore, Pune, Nagpur, Mumbai, Cochin and New Delhi, would be available from Kohler's authorised dealer Dominion Power Systems Private limited (DPSPL).

The 12RES sets, mainly catering to residential premises and small offices, would be imported from Kohler's factory in Singapore, which cater to the growing demand in Asia Pacific countries.

Speaking at the launch function, Mr G Gurucharana of Kohlar India Corporation, DPSPL Managing Director Ram chandra Mahajan and Director Raj Kumar Mahajan said unlike the diesel generators, the 12RES produces power without smoke as it runs on clean fuel like LPG or natural gas.

''This is the first generator of this capacity in India running on gas cylinder. Weighing 186 kg, this is a very compact set which is only one fourth in volume compared to a Diesel Generator Set of similar capacity,'' they said.

The 12RES was a totally automatic set powered by Kohler electronic ignition gas engine with electronic governor.

Later talking to UNI, Mr Raj Kumar Mahajan said DPSPL was looking at an average sale of 10 to 15 units per month. ''We are looking at around 120 to 150 units per year.'' ''Since it is noise-free and priced at a premium segment level our potential customers will be top corporate bosses, like company chairmen and MDs,'' he added.
