Kerala HC sets all-India record in disposal of cases
Kochi, Nov 9 (UNI) Kerala high court has disposed off 75,000 cases so far this year, a record high for any high court in the country, State Chief Justice Vinod Kumar Bali said today.
Addressing a press conference here to formally ring down the curtain on the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Kerala high court, Chief Justice Bali also announced that a permanent museum will be set up in the court, detailing the landmarks in its history.
From next year, one day in an year would be celebrated as ''High Court Day'', Justice Bali announced.
He said that to make up for the lost time due to the three-day holiday during the Golden Jubilee valedictory celebrations last week, the court was sitting half an hour extra since October one.
The Chief Justice said in another pioneering initiative, retired Kerala high court judges had been presiding over 'Lok Adalths' as voluntary service, without taking any remuneration.
Praising the media in Kerala for impartial reporting, he said they projected both sides of the story.
Asked about the demands for a Bench of the Kerala high court in Thiruvananthapuram, the chief justice refused to comment.
