Jan Morcha constituents seek President's rule in UP
Lucknow, Nov 9 (UNI) All major constituents of former Prime Minister V P Singh-led Jan Morcha would meet Dr A P J Abdul Kalam later this month seeking imposition of the President's rule in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the assembly elections.
Pragatisheel Jan Morcha Gathbandhan leader Raj Babbar told reporters here the constituents, including CPI, would meet President A P J Abdul Kalam after November 14. ''UP will witness bloodshed and murder of democracy, if the 2007 assembly elections are held under the rule of the Mulayam Singh Yadav government,'' he alleged.
The cinestar and Agra MP claimed the just-concluded urban local body elections amply proved that the ruling dispensation had lost the faith of electorate.
''People of areas covered during two phases of Mukti Sangram yatra have outrightly disowned the ruling dispensation in the local body polls...by assembly elections, we would ensure the SP does not return to power,'' he claimed.
Mr Babbar charged the SP with hob-nobbing with the BJP to confuse and scare Muslim voters. He alleged the two parties wanted to return to power as an alliance.
The suspended SP leader also slammed SP general secretary and UP Development Council chairman Amar Singh for providing a US-based NRI hotlier 1,000 acres of land in Noida for his helping in clearing the Taj Expressway project. He claimed the NRI was a major fund-raiser for former US president Bill Clinton.
He also criticised Mr Singh for terming Mr Clinton as pro-Muslim.
''How can a person sitting in India describe a political party in the US as being pro-Muslim. Mr Clinton's party can be termed as pro-Muslim, if they officially denounce the death sentence granted to ousted Iraqi president Saddam Hussain,'' he claimed.
He maintained Saddam was not granted a fair trial and the entire process was stage managed by the Bush administration.
