High alert sounded in Kerala airports
Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 9 (UNI) A high alert has been sounded at the kerala airports following threats of a possible terror attack by the 'Al Qaeda.' Security has been intensified following the threat of an attack by Al Qaeda at airports, official sources at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport and the Cochin International Airports Ltd (CIAL) told UNI.
Additional forces had been deployed at the airports and all the vehicles were being thoroughly checked, the sources said.
Besides the bomb detection and disposal squad, the dog squad had been stationed at the airports, they said and added that only air travellers were being allowed inside the terminals.
No flights had been cancelled and there was no delay in the flights. Security has been beefed up after the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security gave the alert, they said.
The security alert was issued after the Director of Tiruchirapalli Airport in Tamil Nadu received an anonymous letter warning of an attack by Al Qaeda at airports.
The airports placed on high alert are Chennai, Kochi, Trichy, Thiruvananthapuram and Coimbatore.
