HC directs officials to appear on Nov 10 for hearing PIL

Ranchi, Nov 09 (UNI) Jharkhand High Court today directed the Urban Development Secretary, Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi and the Ranchi Municipal Corporation Administrator to appear before it tomorrow and inform about the actions taken in connection with the construction of sector market at Doranda locality here.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Muthusamy Karpagavinaygam and Justice Permod Kohli passed the order while hearing a public interest litigation of its own motion.

Earlier, the court had directed the Urban Development Department secretary, Deputy Commissioner, Ranchi and RMC administrator to file show cause reply on September 22 as to why not a contempt of court proceeding may be initiated against them for not complying the court's order.

The court had directed them to file an affidavit but the state government failed to do so.

Today the officials did not appear in the court but a show cause reply was filed by them.

Taking serious note of it, the court directed them to appear tomorrow. The court was of the opinion that the matter was pending from 1996 but till date no action had been taken in this regard.
