Govt sanctions fund for equipment to treat cancer
Patna, Nov 09 (UNI) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today announced Rs 19 crore grant to the Mahavir Cancer Sansthan for purchase of Linear Scalotor.
After inaugurating a facility at Mahavir Cancer Sansthan (MCS), Mr Modi said the government would also provide Rs one crore financial assistance to the organisation and help opening a cell at the institute so the poor might get financial help and treatment at one place.
Mr Modi lauded the role of the MCS in the total management of Cancer at an affordable cost. He said the MCS has carved a niche in the field of medical treatment by arranging funds from the donations to the Mahavir temple.
While emphasising the need for more research in the field of Cancer, Mr Modi announced that the government's decision to develop a hospital in every district with various facilities from diagnosis to the treatment.
Earlier, Sansthan Director Dr J.K.Singh said the MCS is a charitable institution successfully engaged in mitigating the suffering of cancer patients.
He said at a rough estimate nearly 15,000 fresh cases of cancer were attended at Sansthan which is largest, so far the treatment is concerned.
Dr Sanjay Sharma, a renowned cancer expert, said comprehensive care of cancer patients at Mahavir Cancer Sansthan has gone a long way in reducing the burden of other hospitals situated in metropolitan cities.
