Goa forced to follow on TN, Karnataka gain 1st innings lead
Margao, Nov 9 (UNI) Left arm spinner Sayyad Ali (5 for 15) bowled magnificently to help Hydrebad skittle out host Goa for a paltry 81 in reply to their 244 and gained a first inning lead of 163 runs on the second day of the three-day South zone under 15 Polly Umrigar trophy cricket tournament match at the Arlem ground here today.
Goa, in their second innings, were 15 for no loss off 13 overs at the close of the play with Damodar Pokle (6) and Murali Talekar (2) were at the crese.
Goa was not able to negotiate the spin attack of Hyderabad bowlers and were all out for a paltry 81 of 54.2 overs only Murali Talekar (28) and Keenan Vaz (11) offered some resistance.
Earlier, Hydrebad resuming at the overnight score of 159 for 5 added 85 runs to their total with Sandeep Gaud (28) and Rahul Runnaut (42) and were all out for 244 in 114.4 overs before lunch.
Goa'leg spinner Regan Pinto claimed five wickets giving away 46 runs.
In the second match played at MCC ground Margao, Tamil Nadu's leg spinner Annurudha Kasturi (5 for 21) and Sachin Kumar (2 for 20) bowled with lot of fire to bundle out Andra Pradesh for 121 all out in 56.5 overs in reply to Tamil Nadu's 256 all out yesterday and thus gained a first inning lead of 135 runs.
Tamil Nadu in their second inning were 82 for 8 in 38 overs at the close of the second day's play with Mukundan Atre not out 13 and R Sarvankuma not out 6 were at the crease and gained an overall lead of 217 runs. Andra's Shiv Koteshwar Rao 4 for 20, S K Mahboob Basha 2 for 31 and C Sathanarayan 2 for 8 were most successful bowlers.
Earlier Andra Pradesh resumming at the overnight score of one for no loss today managed to score 121 all out in 56.5 overs on the strength of T Wamshi Krishna 37, V B Shrishan 20 and M Rohimtulha 11.
In the third match of the day played at Shiroda, Karnataka gained 58 runs first inning lead over Kerala. Karantaka resuming at the overnight score of 125 for 5 were all out for 198 in 59 overs adding 73 runs to their total, and later dismissed Kerala for 130 of 63.4 overs to gain a lead of 58 runs.
Karnataka in their second inning were 46 for no loss at close of play with Karun Nair not out 27 and Munner M not out 19 were at the crease.
