Four arrested for murder of police informer
Mumbai, Nov 9 (UNI) Four persons responsible for the murder of police informer Narsingh Nagappa Modi, prime witness in the JNPT arms seizure case, were arrested by the Crime Branch of Mumbai police today.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dhananjay Kamlakar told reporters that Abdul Rashid Hasan Ahmed Shaikha alias Rashid Batla (45), Ramakant Tiwari alias Munna (43), Shailesh Yadav (20) and Santosh Avji (23) were given a contract to kill Modi by the latter's business partner Jagdish Nepali as they were having some financial dispute among themselves.
Nepali, who is wanted by the police, is still at large.
After the murder of Modi on October 26, the four accused left their Qualis jeep and fled. They were later tracked down and taken into custody today.
The arms were allegedly being smuggled for Chhota Rajan, he said.
