Exhibition by Jan Shikshan Sansthan graduates
New Delhi, Nov 9 (UNI) Artifacts crafted by graduates of Jan Shikshan Sansthan-- Institutes of Peoples' Education-- will be put on display by the National Literacy Mission at Dilli Haat in the Capital from November 10-14, it was announced today.
The event, Kriti, showcasing wares in 40 stalls at the Haat, will be inaugurated by Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh tomorrow.
The opening will be followed by a cultural programme by folk artistes from Rajasthan, Karnataka and Chandigarh.
The products on display are the work of beneficiaries trained in various trades and skills at nearly 100 Jan Shikshan Sansthans across India.
Many of them have set up their own units but, living on the fringes of the society, do not receive widespread attention or have adequate access to market. Kriti is intended to help carve out a niche for their products.
The products on offer include Madhubani paintings, Tanjore paintings, Sujani work, Applique works from Pipli, Bidri work as also Pearl and artificial jewellery, Handloom Saree, Cane and bamboo products, Patta Chitra and decorative and gel candles.
The proceeds will help in economic upliftment of disadvantaged sections of the society.
