Cops find explosives, used in hunting, from near CM's house

Panaji, Nov 9 (UNI) Police recovered a bag containing 25 explosives from near the Sankhelim private residence of Goa Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane, about 30 km from here, late last evening.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (crime) Ujjwal Mishra has, however, ruled out any terrorist threat and said the explosives, which have been found, are generally used by local hunters for killing wild boars that venture out of the jungles during the nights.

One of the suspected hunters, engaged in poaching, has been taken into custody and is being interrogated, while efforts are underway to trace the two youths who had left behind the bag containing the explosives.

The alleged poacher had hired the duo to assist in hunting and they had abandoned the bag and fled after they spotted the police who were conducting routine check of passers-by last night, Mr Mishra said.
