Congress pays solatium to Mangalore riots victim

Bangalore, Nov 9 (UNI) The Karnataka unit of the Congress will pay a solatium of Rs 50,000 to the next kin of a person who was stabbed to death during the riots that battered Dakshina Kannada district last month.

"Congress want to come to the rescue of Mr Abdul Gafoor who died during the Bhajrang Dal sponsored bandh that saw communal riots erupt. The local leaders in the coastal city would hand over the cheque to the wife of the deceased tomorrow (November 10)," party spokesperson M Ramachandrappa said in a release here today.
