Cologne presents itself as a top business centre in Europe
Bangalore, Nov 9 (UNI) Wooing Indian investors to invest in Cologne, the Chemical and Phamarceutical hub of Europe, City Mayor Fritz Schramma said that as a intellectual power in life sciences the City offered best prospects for the Indian businessman.
Highlighting the business opportunities in Cologne, Mr Schramma told a gathering of businessmen and industrialists here that the region, coming under radius of 500 km around Cologne which was densly populated on a European scale with 120 Million, accounted for two-thirds of the GNP of the European Union.
Stating that the cathedral city in Germany was the best place to set up Pharma industry, the Mayor said that the City housed 450 companies in Life Sciences and 250 Bio Medicine. It also has one of the biggest Bio-parks in the world.
"The industry-specific structure of the Cologne businesses optimally reflects the up-and-coming sectors of business of the Indian economy. Cologne was also being developed into a biotechnology hub with sprinkling in of international giants like Quiagen, Amaxa, Mitenyi and others," he added.
