CM condemns killing of Tamils in Lanka
Chennai, Nov 9 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today condemned the brutal killings of hundreds of Tamils in aerial bombings by the Sri Lankan forces and wanted India to find an answer to the killings.
Expressing shock and anguish over the killings, Mr Karunanidhi in a statement here said ''the news pierces our ears and drowns us in tears. Apart from aerial bombing, the Sri Lankan armed forces fired missiles, resulting in heaps of dead bodies of hundreds of children.
He said even the Norway Team, who had come on a peace mission was attacked and he wanted to know how long the Centre was going to keep patience on the issue.
''I wish to bring to the notice of the Central government the pertinent question which has now arisen as to how long India is going to keep patience. The time is now ripe to rethink and find an answer,'' Mr Karunanidhi said.
Mr Karunanidhi said a few months ago, the Sinhalese Army had killed innocent children by indiscriminate bombing at Sencholai in the island. Before this gruesome incident had faded from the memory of the Tamils living there and the tears of the Tamils all over the world had dried up, there was yet another ghastly incident at Mattakalappu, he added.
