Basudev hopes rail link to Agartala by next Sept
Agartala, Nov 9 (UNI) Parliamentary standing committee chairman for Railway Basudev Acharia (MP) has said the 109-km-long railway link upto Agartala from Manu in Dhalai district is likely to be completed by September next year.
Mr Acharia arrived here on Tuesday with a railway team to study the ongoing expansion works of the rail line at different parts of Baramura hill ranges.
The team had inspected the construction works of 1856 metre long tunnel at Swapnabari in the Baramura hill, a railway bridge at Wakshi Mulsum para, Jirania, Barnkumar and Agartala stations.
Speaking to newspersons here yesterday after returning from work sites, the MP said though the workers were facing difficulties at Baramura tunnel, the progress of work was goingon satisfactorily.
He also said that barring in one or two cases, all rail bridges construction work was also nearing completion.
Mr Acharia also lauded the Tripura government for its arrangement in providing security to the construction workers at various points, and described the them as 'incomparable'.
At a meeting with the state authorities here, Mr Acharia suggested for making arrangements of police out posts and other security structure that was necessary along the railway track.
During the visit at the work sites, he was accompoanied by State Transport Minister Manik Dey, General manager (railway construction) A K Jain, Chief engineer P Chowdhury of N F railway and other officials.
