AP party demands CBI probe against ONGC claim on KG basin

Tirupati, Nov 9 (UNI) The Praja Congress Party (PCP) today demanded that Andhra Pradesh government must recommend CBI enquiry into ONGC's Krishna-Godavari (KG) basin gas resources.

In a letter Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, PCP founder, President N Munichandra demanded the probe against the alleged negative report which ONGC had given to the Centre on the gas dpotential in the KG basin.

A Russian oil company had projected 50 years ago that the KG basin had large natural gas resources, he said and added Reliance had now identified huge reserves in the KG basin.

But ONGC has reported that there were no natural gas resouces in the KG basin, he claimed.
