6 arrested for murder of corporator, 3 others

Pune, Nov 9 (UNI) Six people have been arrested in connection with the murder of municipal corporator and BJP Pimpri-Chinchwad unit president Ankush Landge who was killed along with three others late Tuesday evening.

The arrested persons have been identified as Sangram Pundalik Dhavde, Sagar Dhavde, Sachin Dhavde, Pundalik Dhavde, Sachin Laingayat and Sambhaji Jadhav. All the six were produced before a local court which remanded them in police custody till November 18.

While pleading for their custody, the police told the court that the murders were a fallout of political rivalry between the BJP and the Congress.

Apart from Landge, the two others, who were murdered yesterday, have been identified as Sagar Hanumant Shenkar and Chandrakant Sopan Dhavde. A fourth unidentified person was burnt to death.

The incident had occurred on Tuesday night when a brawl broke out between the BJP and the Congress workers. When Landge intervened, he was murdered along with three others.
