24 teams to particpate in Twenty 20 Nationals
Chandigarh, Nov 9 (UNI) Twenty four affiliated units of the Indian Twenty 20 Cricket Federation (ITCF) will participate in the inaugural National Twenty 20 Cricket Championship for Under-19 in from November 12 to 19.
Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan will inaugurate the championship at the Sector 3 Cricket Stadium in Panchkula. The final will be played at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh.
Organising committee chairman I D Kamboj said that the teams had been divided into eight pools and the winners of each pool will qualify for quarter-finals.
The Nationals will be conducted by the chandigarh twenty 20 cricket association chandigarh and panchkula under the patronage of the Indian Twenty-20 Cricket Federation (ITCF).
The matches will be played at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium, DAV Senior Secondary School ground in Sector 8 and Sector 3 Cricket Stadium in Panchkula. On the inaugural day, two matches at each centre would be played.
Qualified umpires and scorers have been deputed for the technical conduct of the game.
Various committees have been formed and efforts are being made to hosts the inaugural championship smoothly.
Mr Kamboj, who is also president of the Organising Committee, said that during the Nationals, probables would be selected for intensive training at the coaching camps.
Meanwhile, all presidents and secretaries of the affiliated units of the ITCF will meet here on November 18 to initiate steps to further streamline the functioning of the state units and the federation.
Groupings: Pool A: Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Karnataka.
Pool B: Hyderabad, Maharashtra, Dadar Nagar Haveli.
Pool C: Chattisgarh, Baroda, Mumbai.
Pool D: Uttaranchal, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh.
Pool E: Goa, Vidharbha, Jammu and Kashmir.
Pool F: Gujarat, Chandiagarh, Jharkhand.
Pool G: Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Saurashtra.
Pool H: Bihar, Delhi and Rajasthan.
