2 injured in fire, 100 houses destroyed

Kolkata, Nov 9 (UNI) At least two people were injured and some 100 houses destroyed in a major fire last night at Dobiawala bustee in Tangra on the eastern fringe of the city, official sources said today.

According to fire brigade sources ten fire engines were deployed to douse the blaze.

They said the fire, which spread rapidly because of plastics and rubber materials stocked nearby, rendered about 500 people homeless.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, police said.
