122.47 lakh MT of paddy arrived in Punjab mandis
Chandigarh, Nov 9 (UNI) Over 122.47 lakh metric tones of paddy has arrived in various mandis of Punjab so far which was, however, short of 130.50 lakh metric tonnes during the corresponding period last year.
Stating this here today, Punjab Food and Supplies Minister Lal Singh said that out of the total arrival, over 28,32,987 tonnes of paddy was procured by Pungrain, 2157889 tonnes by Markfed, 2692413 tonnes by Punsup, 1170601 tonnes by PSWC, 1340837 tonnes by PAIC, 227130 tonnes by FCI and 1825901 tonnes by the millers in the state till November 8, 2006.
He also said that Paddy procured on November 8 by Pungrain was 10605 tonnes, Markfed 6732 tonnes, Punsup 9329 tonnes, PSWC 4849 tonnes, PAIC 3935 tonnes, FCI Nil tonnes and by Millers 14478 tonnes.
Mr Lal Singh said that Sangrur district was leading in the state in paddy arrival with 2204029 tonnes, followed by Ludhiana (1565303 tonnes).
He further said that Grade 'A' variety of paddy arrived in various mandis of the state was 12146153 tones, while common variety of Paddy arrived in mandis was 101605 tonnes.
