Voluntary organisations to agitate for farmers' demands
Nagpur, Nov 8 (UNI) Activists of various voluntary organisations in Vidarbha will stage demonstrations and hunger strikes in all the five districts of western Vidarbha to press for the demands of farmers later this month.
Addressing a press conference here today, Rashtriya Swabhiman Andolan Convenor Govindacharya said, ''The activists would stage hunger strikes and demonstrations to highlight the plight of the farmers.'' Similar agitations would be staged in New Delhi during the winter session of Parliament and in Nagpur during the Maharashtra Legislature session, Govindacharya said. The dates of the agitation have not been decided yet, he added.
Earlier today, the former BJP functionary resorted to a day-long token hunger strike today to highlight the plight of farmers in Vidarbha. Representatives from 16 voluntary organisations also participated in it.
