Swedish educational delegation all set to return home
Jalandhar, Nov 8 (UNI) A nine-member Swedish delegation comprising seven students and two teachers who came to India to know more about the country and its culture are set to return home with first hand experience of culturally enriched atmosphere, disciplined schooling and well knit-well secured family life.
The delegation from Sollentuna International School, Stockholm was at the Police DAV Public School under a reciprocal ten-day Academic and Cultural Exchange Programme.
The Swedish students--five girls and two boys-- all ninth standard students accompanied with teacher Birgitta Andersen and Coordinator Ms Gagan Gautam had reached here on October 29 afternoon.
Every visiting student is staying with the family of an Indian student for having real first hand experience of Indian family life.
They are also attending school along with their Indian counterparts.
Team teacher Ms Andersen said the children are happy and enjoying memorable times here. She said the visiting students felt that the atmosphere in schools here is more disciplined.
The Swedish children were impressed by the hard working and dedicated learning habits of Indian students, Ms Andersen observed.
They also liked the respectful treatment accorded by Indian students to their teachers in schools, she added.
She said the well knit familial ties and social security in Indian families also attracted the Swedish students. They found all family members caring for each other, particularly the elders.
The students during their stay here also learnt several lessons about Yoga, henna art, cookery and embroidery, Ms Andersen added.
The delegation also visited the Golden Temple, Jalianwala Bagh amd Joint Indo-Pak Border Post at Wagah and the Science City on the Kapurthala Road near here.
Team member Dennis praised the Golden Temple and the Jalianwala Bagh in Amritsar while his classmate Adam said he liked paranthas.
Gulcan admires Indian music and dance while her classmate Linn became a fan of Punjabi dance Gidda and Bhangra.
Natalia, Amanda and Nurcan also found trip very useful.
The team would proceed for Delhi tomorrow and visit historic places there and in Agra before leaving for Sweden.
Police DAV Public School spokesperson Rekha Sharma said the exchange programme is a continuous process and similar delegation of students from the school would go to Stockholm in May next year.
