Committee reviews rail line expansion works

Agartala, Nov 8: Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways will urge the Centre to expand the proposed railway line upto Sabroom in Tripura's South District in the next budget session.

A team led by Committee Chairman MP Basudev Acharya, who made an on-the spot study of the ongoing railway line expansion works from Manu in Dhalai to the capital city, today reviewed the reasons behind the delay in work.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, during a meeting with the team last night, reiterated that the government would try to complete the expansion works within the stipulated time frame.

The chairman also assured that he would take up the matter with the Centre about the expansion of lines from Sabroom to Chittagong in Southern Bangladesh.
