Pallam Raju Discusses Roads Development in Tribal Areas
New Delhi, Nov 8 (UNI) Border roads development and maintenance figured prominently during Minister of State for Defence MM Pallam Raju's visit to Himachal Pradesh earlier this week.
According to an official spokesperson here, the Minister -- also the Chairman of the Border Roads Development Board -- visited Himachal Pradesh on Monday and yesterday to discuss development of roads in the predominantly mountainous border state.
Minister Raju held discussions -- mainly focussed on maintenance and development of the Manali-Sarchu, Tandi-Sansari, Hindustan-Tibet and Dhami-Khongal Roads -- with officials of the state Government and the Chief Engineer of 'Project Deepak' of the Border Roads Organisation.
The Minister was briefed by Brigadier KP Singh, Chief Engineer 'Project Deepak', on the status of these roads -- especially the tunneling work at Rohtang, Khoradhang and Malling areas.
Minister Raju, accompanied by Mrs Pratibha Singh, MP, also visited the Pooh Sector to inspect the road construction work in the area.
