Pakistani players arrive tomorrow for tennis series
Chandigarh, Nov 8 (UNI) Indian and Pakistan players will arrive here tomorrow after completing the Pakistani leg of the four-tests home-and-away Indo-Pak Tennis Series.
The first Test of the series was played at Islamabad which India won 2-1, while the second Test commenced at Lahore today and will end tomorrow.
The city is hosting the third Test on November 10 and the fourth and fifth will be held in Delhi on November 12.
The Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association (CLTA) has given a face-lift to the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium.
Colour combination at the Centre Courts here has been changed to suit the requirements for TV coverage and better visibility of the ball.
According to reports received by the CLTA today, the players and officials from both sides are expected to cross over the border through the Wagah check post tomorrow afternoon.
Aisam Ul-Qureshi is captaining the Pakistan team. His ATP ranking is 441. Other members of the team are: Davis Cupper Aqueel Khan, Jallil Khan and Nomi Qamar.
Nandan Bal is the non-playing captain of the Indian team. ATP ranked 273, Rohan Bopanna, Karan Rastogi (ranked 361) , Divij Sharan (522), Vivek Shoken (603) and doubles specialist Mustafa Ghouse form the Indian team.
The All India Tennis Association has also included Purav Raja in the Indian squad. He has already reported here.
The Chandigarh and Delhi Tests carry a cash prize of Rs 2.5 lakh each. Punjab Governor Gen (Retd) S F Rodrigues will be the chief guest on November 10.
Doordarshan and Pakistan Television are telecasting live the Test matches. All India Radio will also give ball-by-ball commentary.
