New Delhi, Nov 8 (UNI) With the death of one more dengue patient in AIIMS, the toll due to the viral disease today rose to 60 even as the capital reported 2,974 total number of cases.

Twenty-nine-year-old Asha, a resident of Delhi's Pushp Vihar, succumbed to the dengue fever early today at the institute.

MCD officials said of the total number of cases reported till 1000 hrs this morning 1,817 are from Delhi. Yesterday, the total number of dengue cases in the capital was 2,950.

AIIMS Medical Superintendent Dr D K Sharma said while six fresh dengue patients were admitted to the Institute in the past 24 hours, 16 were discharged.

The total number of dengue patients undergoing treatment in hospital now stands at 73, he added.

With the dip in the temperature, the number of dengue cases is on the decline, Dr Sharma said.

''The changing weather conditions are not conducive for the breeding of aedes mosquitoes, which causes dengue,'' he said.

''The numbers which are being reported now is normal.... the outbreak time is over. Dengue cases are reported round the year,'' he added.

The Central Zone, Shahdara(North) and Shahdara (South) continue to be the worst affected areas in Delhi.
