Nikkei edges lower eyeing US elections, Toyota up
TOKYO, Nov 8 (Reuters) Japan's Nikkei slipped more than 0.8 percent by the close of morning trade on Wednesday as investors punished Softbank Corp. ahead of its earnings results, and due to caution before the outcome of U.S. congressional elections.
Shares of Toyota Motor Corp. finished the session at a record high, after Japan's top automaker posted a 44 percent rise in quarterly profit, raised its full year forecasts and announced a capital and operational tie-up with Isuzu Motors The Nikkei finished the morning down 136.43 points at 16,256.98. The broader TOPIX index was down 0.81 percent at 1,603.66.
