MP Govt serious over DMAT issue: Chouhan

Bhopal, Nov 8 (UNI) The government today told the Madhya Pradesh assembly that it was serious over the issue of irregularities in the Dental and Medical Admission Test (DMAT) 2006 -- a test for admission into private and medical colleges of the state.

As Mr Jalam Singh raised the issue during Question Hour, opposition members shot fiery questions wanting to know what action the state government planned to take.

Intervening, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the government was serious and Principal Secretary (Medical Education) was a member of the Judges Committee -- formed to monitor DMAT-linked cases.

He said the Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) had completed all formalities for re-examination following decision by the Judges Committee in this regard.

However, the re-examination could not be organised in view of the Madhya Pradesh High Court's order.

Mr Chouhan said the government was not satisfied in the matter and an appeal had been made in the Supreme Court, where hearing will be take place again tomorrow.

He said complaints in this regard will be investigated thoroughly and culprits will not be spared.
