Governor clears Office of Profit bill
Bangalore, Nov 8: Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi has given his consent for the Office of Profit Bill on November four, Karnataka Home Minister M P Prakash said today.
Mr Prakash told reporters here today that the new Act called Karnataka Legislature (Prevention of Disqualification)(Amendment) Act 2006 will come into force at once.
The Amendment was brought to the five decade old act to disqualify certain category of persons holding two posts, he said.
The offices of the Chairman, the Speaker, the Deputy Chairman, the Deputy Speaker, the Minister of State, the Deputy Minister, the Parliamentary Sectretary, the Leaders of Opposition or the Government Chief Whip in the Legislative Assembly or in the Legislative Council are out of the purview of this new Act, he said.
"With this clearance of the Bill there are no hurdles for the appointment of Chairmen to various Boards and Corporations, he said.
