Jalandhar, Sri Bhaini Sahib teams win in Nehru hockey
New Delhi, Nov 8 (UNI) Government High School, Maqsudan, Jalandhar tamed Gurgaon Senior Secondary School 4-1, while Sat Guru Partap Singh Academy, Sri Bhaini Sahib edged out St Ignatius School, Gumla 3-1 in the 35th Nehru Junior Hockey Tournament here today.
The other match of the day, between Army Boys Sports Coy, BRC, Danapur and GHPS Punjabi Bagh, Delhi, ended in a 1-1 draw with Mukesh Lakra scoring the goal for the former and Ravinder Tewatia scoring the equaliser.
Government High School, Maqsudan dominated the game against the team from Gurgaon and Jatinder Singh struck a brace for them, while Gaurav Jeet Singh and Baljinder Singh chipped in with one each.
Trailing 0-4, Gurgaon Senior Secondary School reduced the margin through Jai Bhagwan but it could not change the outcome of the match.
On the other hand, Sat Guru Partap Singh Academy scored two early first half goals and added one more in the second half to beat St Ignatius 3-1.
For the winners, Basant Singh scored a brace, while Malak Singh also sounded the board. For the losers, the consolation goal came through Govind Nayak.
