International Film Festival to kick off from November 10
Kolkata, Nov 08 (UNI) The International Forum of New Cinema under the broad framework of 12th Kolkata Film Festival will be held here from November 10 to 17 screening a total of 67 films from 23 countries.
Announcing this, general secretary of Cine Central, Kolkata's largest film society, organising the Forum of New Cinema, Sadhan Chakravarty said award winning Cannada film "Nayi Neralu" (In the Shadow of the Dog), directed by Girish Kasaravalli, would be screened at the opening film of the Forum.
Mr Kasaravalli would himself be present on the occasion, Mr Chakravarty said.
He said among the participating countries are Brazil, Uruguay, France, Germany, Switzerland, UK, USA, China, Japan and Korea, and claimed that majority of these films had received international award despite being made very recently.
He said Haryana Governor Dr A R Kidwai would formally inaugurate the event in presence of noted film maker Mrinal Sen and actor Soumitra Chatterjee, who was also the chairman of the Kolkata fFlm Festival.
Incidentally, under the banner of 12th Kolkata Film Festival, a total of 225 films from 53 countries would be screened during the eight-day event beginning next Friday with the famous Danish film "Adam's Apple".
